SINGAPORE'S.... SUNBURST YOUTH CAMP flied on d' 5th December...



As agroup ...a team of 10....  a male nn female teacher... with total 8... balance numbers with opposite gender  each...

....a reason given  limited numbers....before..10... to paticipants' nations...  

 

Lines' UP before entering d'gate for DEPARTURE.....

 High disciplines were required for such a group to represent a country...

OFF they  ...flied..... yesterday....

 

Today.. Saturday....late noon.. 11 December.....our Sunburst representatives were HOME..... such a fast.... trip...

Had to get together.....  before dispersed......

a friend.... had to drive an hour more to Belait.....home town...

 

PITY.....  couldn't get more stories to put here... NOT my SHOW...lol..

D' places were... Victoria Concert Hall... Maxwell Food Centre..... Laselle... Former Supreme Court... Asian Civilization Museum... Raffles Place MRT...

Of coz... if U're NOT familiar... to go to these places... with time..frame...given..

DOn't Know..  what..???.....   but..this is SUNBURST...to train U're mind...  leadership... U're management..... exposure....new fontiers things...unknown..

...so U've to share...with group members...of different nationals...  lol...???

MID.....opposite river... a distant looked... houses..old...new...two stories too..sign board..bill board...iron cast made of...

Bottom... far left....a new tourists centre... building... before..were many still houses nn school..loging motel...... destroyed by fire... d' area leaved empty as new houses are not allowed to be built here... by government order.s...  ??? 

 

D'choices were NOT cheap here... but... tourists place...

NICE place..   location nn view... Yayasan Shopping Building is just d' opposite road... in between overlooking d' SOAS Mosque....

 

If  U hungry.... take all.... varities.... European... pizza here too...

Fish & Chips... $15.99...  but just look... d' FISH.... 

In UK.....a slice... of COD... Haddock......nn fries....full u're PLATE...cost around 5...6...7Pounds.... depend on..places..

1st HIJRAH ...PUBLIC HOLIDAY

Convenience times...  to spare visits of our love ones were when everybody be able get together... nnn ...that time only during free holiday times ...  like..Friday... Sunday...nn public holidays...  all days.. are good days.. as long as ... U make used positifly... good...

U can go alone... but better...still.... with children... as parents should be as  good role models ... to be copied.. by young generation...  !!!!

 Visiting d' cementery ... common to human beings ... NOT.. only Muslims.. !!

This respect remind us ...when.. OUR TURN...next...??..never known ..yet..

So..keeping on visiting d' graves would keep us closer nn remember.. DEATH...??

PH Khairil  ...  d' youngest  of brothers  ...  put..

The IDEA... reading verses of KORAN .. Yassin...nn.. Tahlil    .. as today is a FREE day ... good attendance could be expected....

Mother passed away... late afternoon..... ready by dusk  time nn completed prayers too... soon the sun set...d' Magrib prayers had to be done first... nnn.. so carried d' waiting body first to mosque  before burial...but 'd to wait.. as apporaching...new hijrah prayers...at this Pulaie Mosque... so...another body prayers attended by mosque's 'jemaah' ..before burial...

That was .... d' story behind 1st Hijrah.... It was FOUR years ago....   2006....  read grave's inscription

Here..  I love to share a good sense of observer...nn reporter to descripe...what happend at PULAIE cemetery compound.... seem to KNOW ALL but must be new..  even though... since 2000....??? as first used to visit d' loved departed ones....

If U stay in this village U knew somehow NOT all but ... d' development... ever..

Just opposite d' cementery compound... a road way to Kampong Anggerek Desa... just a few steps...100m or so.... a unique road corner... why can't people make it real ...  a straight road......WHY...  ????

...gave way....an old GRAVE.... nnn just opposite  d' road...very near to manmade drain... another lonely ..GRAVE.... WHO...??? The late old person....d' owner belongs that piece of  land.of coz...

Meaning...we wanted to be nearer.. when we're GONE...  hereafter...

Here....A long story.... I was  nn had been here for quite a long TIME... .NOT me alone... a few d' same age as mine...   they are here....

PULAIE Cementery... was.. infact... very far... unreacheable  to our standard at that time... first occupied by KEDAYAN people... surrounded by thick forest....  right about 400meters.. a village..few bamboos nn wooden houses... if ever U'd been in thick forest... imagine d' sound of river flows... birds... just peace time...  unseen from outside... now...U still can reach there through a road...near to Zainuddin Shopping Block....existing highway stadium road just front....  but few stay...  most elders moved out to new land.....Lambak...

The tall trees still can be seen at cementery... that was d' age sign....  ????

Jungle ...thick forest...wild fruits trees...nnn of coz rubber trees.....part of rubber estate here... 

We're here only to LOOK for fruits like... durians.... langsat... tampoi... tebadak.. ...wow... all local..lol..... boys times...best to play...exploring...new.. corners...

 Ok..make..... it short..

.....d' cementery was only growing in real  70s.. then...d ' mosque..lately

That's meant ...there wasn't mosque built when people already dug the graves....!!!!.

 

My father was originally from BAKUT BERUMPUT...Kampong Ayer...

Married my mother...during d' Japanese TIME..

My grandmother...mother's side was from Kampong Kianggeh.......d' opposite of PGGMB Building..now... in town...lol..   Brunei...40s...!!!

My late father used to take us...to burial sites at Kianggeh  nn Jalan Subuk.... quite a lot people..there....whose names supposed to be related....

Since my brother passed away in 2005...nn buried here...Pulaie Cementery... my late father dedicated his times more here....

Undeniably.... D' three concrete specially designed stoned graves at the end of d' green grass of  empty plot are belong to my father, mother nn grandmother....nn another next to them is my cousin..or..niece.. ...passed away around this year...at d' age of near 60 years....




Here...lead by youngest of d' family... but NO longer young ...lol    as he is already in 40s... born ...nn grown up at HOUSE NO.10...Kampong Anggerek Desa...

Young people coming  ..children to brothers nn sisters...children to nieces...too..

Strolling around... spraying with... flowers.... brother's tomb just...a distant...isolated.. but recognisable by reading the inscription of d'graves.. right left side of the well designed tiled pathway going up hill....



To d' West of sun set.... SEKOLAH RENDAH PULAIE.....  now beautifully..renovated... with playgrounds.. nn field..

Do U know 'pulaie'.. just a word meaning.. a kind of wild wood plant... soft wood.. and light.. U throw d' wood to water.. definitely would be floating... can make use as raft at rivers... as like bamboos... d' plant recgonisable...as it grows upright...shooting up with green healthy leaves...????...  wow... good new knowledge... am I correct...???  refer...please...

He got NEW appointment...lol.. GOT NEW JOB....could be PROMOTION.....too

Be transferred to Ministry of..Culture, Youth & Sports....

He.. was applying...being interviewed...nn ....successfully...

so.... confirmed moving out from old job as Immigration Officer...  very soon..

Traditionally....we prepared camps...built with bamboos nnn thick roof of canvas ...so heavy... lol.. if we prepared our own...   d' next day all U'r muscles... thight up... coz.. 'd never done d' job... 

But... changes t ook place... as business booming with GOOD ideas...
Just put a call... or look at directory....many camps agencies... some provided PACKAGES.... including...if U want the caterings.. FOODS of  U'r choice...???... Just state U'r price... cheap..medium...expensive...

People are politely welcomed.....   a gift...for each.... a long time ago... cooked eggs rapped with beautifully coloured designed...either special ordered holders..like plastic flowers..      ...      imported creamic from Thailand....a lot..actually...  
.....depend on d' session..... were given to those who attended for d' wedding's invitation...   young ...old...




Camps for d' invited guests were erected in between d' roads... every houses very near to d' bride house...  so no PROBLEM..  for a thousand...invited guests.....lol
D' location...nn view is very nice nn beautiful here...overlooking downhill.. as d' house itself... on uphill..Most of d' houses were stone... concrete wall-building...  a few houses of 70s still have the looked...wooden wall.... but lately modified.... most two stories bunglows.... loll..
The land was ONCE..one piece... but since the families growing up nn d' land divided into small lots of land..... good enough... for a house each...

It was along time ago...a WISE owner...then...sharing the land with brothers...sisters.....now...d' children... nephews...nieces...cousins.. nnn so....all blood related here...
The road in this so called VILLAGe...also..just being resurfaced with new black tar... nn d' sides new drainage to allow the flow of water down to big drains... making much... attractive.... peace to stay nnn living here...
 Just around the corners....a mosque... a primary school... shops..mini mall....nn easy exist....lol

People were coming according to d' stated scheduled of invitation's card....

Seated as U want.... near to U'r friends.....relatives... but... according to gender...male for males.. female for females....

Usually... ready menu....of served catering foods in d' center...surrounded.....as people seated.. around facing each other...

   



TIME...of appreciation... from d' bride's family.. ....next of kins... like father...uncles....eldest son..for males.... nn females... would be...mother...aunties... eldest sisters..nn  so..

They would go round d' camps....to greet nn say THANK Uuu...   sooo.. in return...     what 're we to do...???

An envelop... prezented in between palm's right hand... at least...a red $10.00 NOTE... a contribution might a little help to d' family.....   halal... zahir batin...lol...

   

 The food being served.. soon after...thanksgiving..Doa.  nn   special wedding prayer.......

  

People were leaving soon....their stomach full..... but...

some leaved behind....waiting for d' bride-groom.. to come....usually..friends..nn relatives..

TODAY...U'll be called...RAJA SEHARI... as like a royal being crowned...eh.. but...only a day...of..coz...

D' bride-groom..  now coming..    off d' car... couldn't WAIT...ehhh

As...a...tradition..  ...an umbrella...giving shade to bride-groom....???  nnn...

used to be......Well known elder person....  hands on bride-groom's hand... lead d'way..... to give direction... as if he was  BLIND.....???

  

And...MORE..... d'bride-groom...  before entered ...had to walk round.....woo ...going round THREE times..  like merry go round...eeeh..

Once to step in...stopped... A DOA ...first... wedding ritual..to be allowed enter...... 

now short cut... depend on people nn  their customs  ... traditioal ceremony varied here...

 

Now allowed be seated... as d' wife waiting already...

The invitation place is in a modern kampong ... once we consider a village... but look around... all concrete walls... except a few old houses around here ...may be built around 70s... but then UPGRADEd according to economic changes including families.....

At d' times when TIMBER was considered CHEAP... built wooden houses... but nOW... more to stones  ..  sand...nnn    ...cement...

Nice location..... slight....high land.... over look....down hills.....

The road is newly maintained nn   being resurfaced with new 'tar' ...  still looked ...branded new black tar.. both sides of d' road are well placed with concrete drainage....   so water flows to main big drains....

Once...The land here was BOUGHT ...in ONE piece...   so.. when.. families expanded.... a WISE owner....divided d' land into many pLOTS of land... to be divided nnn shared  ...to... uncles, aunties.....nn now their children.... cousins...nieces... nephews..nnn   ....  soo

A BIG family stay here.............. soo TODAY's.... everybody knows everybody..

Worries put aside...why...???..coz ....

4WHEELDRIVE.... READY 4 XPDCion

Once I was a boy scout....  nn .. one of paticular 'motto' I never forget is " Be Prepared"...

Whatever..... U always do ..... in real LIFE ...  've to get ready ....well funny ..eeh..

this is life   ... when U're child... ready to be grown up... when U go to school ready for higher education...nn  graduated with flying colours...!!!....  eeh exam...first...lol...

well.... never ending...  except when U're OLD.. ve to get ready .....RIP....    ?????

So..end of YEAR is coming...  Brunei...be deserted.... people go abroad...  alot ..eeh...

People like ME d'same..  At RIZQUN Hotel... a well established... with The MALL... had a second Meeting to reconfirm... details of ... people coming..what to do etc...

I put myself with 4wheel Drive XPDCion... this time......schedule...  time ok...tentative....to time frame..nn journey..... should be 16 - 30 December... with injured times... ready added... (not only football..eh)  1st...2nd January 2011... still holiday....  kan...

One thing for SURE... money.. .. d' trip's charging cost for each vechicle... B$500.00....wowww.... would make used for many things..  like.. cars' insurance entering Indonesia... ferries charges.. tolls charges... helping hands charges.... mechanics....  nn  ...soo....   tau sendiri...lol...

AT...ALLTERRAIN...  right choice for GOOD balance between drivability on the highway  nn fraction OFF ROAD... Good so used in DRY condition.....only..

Bottom left..... MT...first heard...thought EMPTY.... actually ....... MUD TERRAIN ... .wow..this..BEST overrall grip in SAND... DIRT.... ROCKS...nnn....in WEST countries especially NOW.... for SNOW .... a reasonable grip in most other situatuions... SSoo GOOD in MUD ...nnn   SNOW... except... those people...anti sound pollution....d'tread would NOISER..than d' finer treaded tyres...

Bottom right... SPECIAL...type...  ok...various special tyre treads  ...like this Super Swamper Bogger.... nn NOT cheap... up to B$300 each......wow..   Many Mud Drivers' challenger...make use Bogger designed for this HEAVY MUD....as proved USABLE in other situations....

MINE ..take d' third ONE... coz... price reasonable...  BUT...at least...paid B$150 foe each tyre....

December month ... also....rainy season..... there 're time d' only road became MULTI purpose... instead road..also... as main big drainage.... coz.. no way rain water to go...except.... to bold...muddy... unplanted shallow deep road.......

Que...too... before passing.. deep muddy... so called... road...????

ONLY...  strong 4wheedrivels' vehicles were capable to pass through...

D' truck stucked right on road track... so 4wheel jeeps had to give hands to use d' winch to pull aside...successfully job's DONE....

Casualties.....   Not ..to mention.... happened..  anywhere...!!!!. could  not avoided.....

Engines..... water radiators... tyres..... I got TWO times punchers....  suspensions... tyres' join-holders... spring.....so uncounted.... last my front  gear's box  broke.....just near on d' way Bintulu-Miri.. nnn had to tow by our gang....

It was night nn unable to reach d' border on time.... stranded overnight with d' help of all in ONE....friends.... Thank U..   late...lol..



The   XPDCion was considered a very LONG journey....which was supposed to go ROUND Borneo but instead changed for sudden political unstoppable circumstances......  soo.... went to SAMARINDA.....nn  Balikpapan.. that time around.... Had to cross TWO ferries... so altogether 4 returns....

Early morning PACKING before leaving... a memoriable.... nn un forgotten.... but last HOME safely.....

So.. d' COMING...XPDCion....hopefully.. go   nnn   home in one piece...  happy ever after... amin...
