HEre ..to real place.. turtles' Islands...in Sandakan..
d' story........ d' journey ... to reach destination....
....it was my daughter's ambitious project ......
........my daughter ....really ...wanted...!!!

| Driving to Sandakan was really much demanding.......100 percent concentration ... coz... d' long route needed energy ... a NOn stop ...really made Uuur ...body ..mind.. ...stress ...adding cause ..tension ......owww. .....as in short......along the road from KK to Tuaran , and turn right to the foot of mountain, passing... many small towns ....Nabalu....Taman Negara Mt Kinabalu ....roaring engine enabled kept changing gears to climb high .....so climbing .... all the way ...nn so d' next opposite ...route turned to go down ....down.. to Ranau...passing through daily 'Tamu'... turn right , NOT left to Hot Spring road... so to Telupid, a small kampong ..now turning town (growing ever since as a rest stop over)... mid-way ......place ...now to see.... green every where - Kelapa Sawit right/left area,.......... But, once U meet the junction to Tawau, keep straight to left...to ..Sandakan road (don't miss reading sign boards...ok) ....................... ...so .. Nearing Sandakan, the vehicles' movement becoming as slow as turtle ...aahhh... cos ..the road..narrower.. adding more big vehicles ..lorries ..trucks... coaches ...all the way.,,, but met.. SIPILOK (a place popularly known where to see... ORAng Utans ) ...on the round about......Look d' sign board to town ....as a choice to follow, on the right to new city area and on the left ...would lead to old Sandakan city port...we followed this route .... ..that was.... d' choice to ENd ..... d' road... SANDAKAN................. |

SANDakan...... approaching to......
...a crowd narrow road into d' heart of d' town ... used to be... an old port....
...d' idea...an alternative place to see back 50s...as buildings remind us ...during the booming commercial port of Borneo. The town was just like the one we saw in P. Ramlee's movies....kenangan masa lalu.....aaaaaaaaa..(remind me ..a Malay song)
....Still many Bruneian relatives ....live here if Ur try to trace back....the families' root.
Zainal (my grandma ..blood related) ..for eg, the one accompany me was... formely from Sandakan .....but ..ever since ...got married with children ...he moved out to greener commercial...place ...to stay in KK with wife, a nurse nn now.. extended families..... even once migrate to Brunei ..... few decades ago ..but..back to home land....

First night .....
.......found a place to stay ....soon on the arrival in Sandakan (remember ....this Fasting Month of Ramadhan)
.... remind... a big nAMe ....was a popular port .. North Borneo ..... now named ...Sabah ....................................
........... a way back in ....50s....
Hotel Sandakan ...was a reminder..old name .... but... be sure.. this was just a 12 years old hotel.

...next morning ...as arrangement made..
Got ready for an exciting trip to Pulau Selingaan,
........so had to make....ealier consultation ..
...A must, paid first before departure at the Crystal Quest counter..
.... booking for valid tickets... had been done before we're allowed to enter d'jetty where to embark to the island coz
the island.... only allowed around 50 people / tourists a day ....so NO funny business.... coz regulations made ... .. had to be followed for the sake of turtles' survival.... mmmm......................

Payment bill ....as a proof paid package....
.......... to get a place/ a key room....
.......so a little description...to understand more...during mid way to island..
...Found ..unique structures in the middle of shallow sea built by fishermen called BAGANG...made of bamboo...once only every season, usually June to November.. the buildings collapsed soon the sea becomes furious with high waves..and strong winds...
......at d' end..
Happier... and ...safer landing on the island far ...from the cries of d' city... noises..., a close ...distant about 40km...or so...
.....nOt until.....
....as being observed earlier... the surroundings...as looked ... calm... white seabirds...d' blue skyline .... so hazy...as island isolated from d' mainland..... nn..so.. d'engine roaring ....but ....slower once nearing... .......... the island of Pulau Selingaan

....Everybody were allowed to eye-sighting the behaviour of turtles' laying eggs, reburying in new safer location, and returning/releasing the baby turtles to the open sea soon they emerge out of the nests. ...BUT in dark surrounding...as turtle is very sensitive so...we try not to disrupt the athmosphere while the turtle was laying eggs.... ...ooopppp....sorry...my camera was not good enough to catch this ..........exciting moment...!!! |

One night and 2days package offered to Tourists.

| ....as my visit .... great..beneficial to all....especially Pu3... Nesting and Releasing Turtles .....turned to Pu3's jobs to put on records' assignments .... so learning, observing, collecting rigit inFO...n..so..necessary ....as every minute...counted .... as valuable as .... GOld...... Wisli, a ranger was helpful enough .....to allowed Pu3 took the apportunities.....a great advantage..for a short research's recording ..... of coz'... |

...as a ONe roof ... resort...provided show room ...lecture room... so all.... to give educational..once being here ......LOVe turtles... .... ........pictues ..retaken .... eeem .... shaped like ..what ??? The old picture from the air of Pulau Selingan.
Now, ..so ... reality d' island ... shrinking....getting smaller cos' of the natural seas ....behaviour of human mankinds, global changes...... many ......made so ....

Records' Keeping .....such as.. collecting the Landings on the three Islands on the 2nd day of our stay .....Were U believe....??? Every night an average landings of 30s .....but mostly penyu hijau...not sisik.. Pu3 was doing some research about turtles....for her final project, ...assignment ...to be done after back to UK for this coming semester ......(really ..beneficial ...NON ..IF NOt ..confront with difficulties ..to find ONe in Europe.....ok..!!!!)

......what DO Uuu find...staying ..here..???
A place to stay in Pulau Selingaan, a simple chalet would cost U about RM$250 a night..plus...plus....of other charges, like dinner, breakfast, camera, and of coz'.. the boat ..to ..n ..fro..... ....we paid..... RM$1,720.00 for two nights stay.....wwwwoo |

.... Last Day,....
...turtles' eggs collections... during our stay... (...see..INFO..white board..)
as we Got ..ready.. to depart ... back to the main land...
..of coz' ... pity on them ....people had stayed back here....nite/day shift-workers ..authorities stood by ...police ...rangers ....had to stay long even through-out this Fasting Month - Ramadhan ....as "RAYA" approaching... so getting closer... .....but ...their job ...(a round clock watch) as a must... to maintain this conservation for the future generations.....
...so Pu3.. paid tribute ... to say.. few words of.. Thanks.... ..to one of the ranger, Sukur Sukardi assigned by their head, Md Kassim Karim who was on leave .... back to main land.................

Boat to ... Crystal Quest's Jetty....took about 40 minutes..
..........for about 40km .... route-journey ..........
Once landing......(a simple procedure ..NO more checking ....NOn passports chops ......) ....so ...went straight ...to our parked car ..... for a trip back to capital city ....KK ...Kota Kinabalu .... ...

Not ..drove back .... yet.. !!!
...... had to call ..Zainal ...back at d' hotel (he only stayed a nite in Pulau Selingaan )... before proceeding the way to stop somewhere ....at kampong ayer (water village), Kg Sim Sim... .....Buildings with arrangement made bridges in numerical...see no 22, a place we met friend ...eeeeh....turtle eggs... many here.. too ???.................. SOLD ..openly..... reserved export from Philippines' Islands... as TOLD....???? ....a road frontage with huts ...as easy picking-point ......if U still remember, similar to a place... in Brunei ... along d' frontage road at Kg Sultan Lama - ...but it was decades ago ...a long, long time ago...., many of these houses were occupied or rented to other people ( foreigners ), ....but local still the majority....... as being informed.... ...so to End.... my report article ... Unluckily...(coz... roads hardly seen) ...water pouring ...hardly ...say raining all d' way ...... ....it was heavy for awhile on the time we reached mountain area.......actually .... once ... hazy..diminished .... we could see clearly the mountain with icy... clear white... .....water falls... so many immediate ...waterfalls ... from high reached mountain tops..... ......Arrival to ... a hotel location .... .........KK ..... late noon... ...safe ...nn....sound.... |
